Advanced/Applications/Operations/Child Development

Welcome to a new and exciting semester of Early Childhood Education. The purpose of this course is to complete your portfolio and continue teaching children of different age levels and diversities. It is also a leadership class where you will be able to demonstrate your maturity and organizational skills to the community, parents and your peers. The following obligations are required of you to successfully complete this course:

1.      Internships require transportation to a local school with at least 90% attendance.

2.      All school-wide dress codes must be followed; therefore, nose rings and brightly colored hair are not appropriate for elementary school settings.

3.      You must “head” a committee for each of the end of the semester extravaganza parties and follow through with your commitment.

4.      You will produce portfolio entries and meet deadlines.

5.      You will demonstrate interview skills with a panel of community leaders to evaluate you.

6.      You will investigate recourses on the internet and websites and use technology and professionalism in all of your work.

7.      You will cooperate and respect your co-workers and teachers or be penalized by being dropped from the academy.

8.      You will research and use creativity in communicating your material to the class in oral presentations.
