Purpose:

The purpose of the Early Childhood Education Academy Portfolio Program is to provide students in the academy courses the opportunity to showcase their best works that meet important career-technical and academic standards. Purposefully building a portfolio helps academy students both plan and document their mastery of the required knowledge and skills gained in the academy /Career — Technical areas. The portfolio will certainly stand as the centerpiece of the students’ efforts to move to the next level in their training, employment and education.

Within the academy, portfolio process will be a central part of the students’ course work, not as something done in addition to their “real” work. It must be considered a valuable tool that may help them get a job or get into college. It is so important that the academy makes it a part of the students’ school lives.

The portfolio will provide Academy students the opportunity to show creativity, originality, flexibility, and resourcefulness. It will promote self-evaluation and reflection. It requires students to take a more active, responsible role in their education. Above all, it will provide a tangible product than can be useful to academy students after graduation.
